Brass Plaques

To make a lasting impression.

Brass plaques are polished brass signs with engraved lettering. The engraving is usually filled with black paint. Plaques are often used for house signs, memorials, commemorations and presentations.

To adorn the doorways of doctors and dentists
Or take centre stage at inaugural assemblies.
Commemorate, celebrate, charm or compel,
To polish things off, they're sound as a bell!

A Guide to Brass Plaques

The brass plaques supplied by Stamford Engraving are made using polished engraving brass, usually with a thickness of 2mm. They are cut to a specified size and finished with a bevelled edge. The material is suitable for indoors or out.

Plaques are usually fixed by screws. The number of fixing holes is determined by the shape and size of the plaque. Brass screws are provided on request. A wooden plinth can be supplied if needed.

After engraving, the lettering is usually filled with black paint. The choice of fonts currently offered is serif, sans-serif or script.

Another option for smaller labels is jeweller's brass, which has a thickness of 0.5mm. This is scratch-engraved and recommended for indoor use only. Alternative materials for larger plaques include anodised aluminium and gold-coloured engraving laminate.
