Comb Binding

An end to our eternal shuffling.

Comb binding is a method of binding documents using plastic spines. The spines are known as binding combs. A series of holes are punched along the left-hand edge of documents and the pages are linked using the combs.

The stabilising of spineless sheets. The locking of loose leaves.
The engagement of errant excerpts. The restraint of roving reams.

A Guide to Comb Binding

The binding combs used by Stamford Engraving have 21 rings. The diameter of the rings depends on the number of pages to be bound. The smallest diameter is 6mm, which is suitable for up to 25 sheets of paper. The largest, 51mm, can hold about 450 sheets.

The combs are usually black, white or blue. Other colours are available if required.

Bound documents are usually finished with a clear plastic cover. A rigid card sheet is used for the back cover.
