Scanning

To give it the once-over.

Scanning is a method of creating digital images of documents and objects. An image is transferred to the computer and saved as a file. It is particularly useful for old photos, letters and newspaper clippings.

Picture this, a magical box,
A seeing machine to make hard copies soft,
A glassy device to examine and see,
A bionic eye of the finest degree.

A Guide to Scanning

Stamford Engraving scans images using a flatbed colour scanner. The maximum read area is A3 (420 x 297mm). The files are cropped and cleaned up using Photoshop.

All kinds of images can be scanned. Commonly scanned items include photographs, 35mm slides, printing and hand-crafted designs. Certain three-dimensional objects can be scanned if required.

Image files can be supplied in various types of format. Common formats include jpg, tif, gif and psd. The size and resolution can be adjusted to meet your needs.
