Signs

To tell it like it is.

Signs are a means of communicating information. They can be used to instruct, to direct, to identify or to promote. They use a combination of text and symbols to convey a message. They usually consist of a rigid plastic board and vinyl graphics.

A static commander, impassionate, cold,
A warning, a caution, a thing to behold,
A friendly persuader, polite and sincere,
A pointed reminder, around about here.

A Guide to Signs

Most of the signs supplied by Stamford Engraving are made using vinyl lettering on a rigid foam PVC. The material is available in a range of colours and thicknesses. The usual thickness is 5mm.

A lightweight alternative to foam PVC is corrugated plastic. This is ideal for short-term signs, such as estate agents' boards and direction signs for events. Corrugated plastic is available in several different colours and thicknesses.

A sturdier material for heavy duty signs is composite aluminium. This has a polyethylene core and a lacquered aluminium outer layer. There are many colours available. Composite sheets are relatively thin but extremely flat and rigid.
